3 Keys to Claim Victory

January is already almost over! Are you celebrating achievements so far, or quietly concerned about how to get the victory you desire at the end of this year?

Please keep reading as I share how three keys: intentions, goals and habits can carry you to claim victory in 2023.

Key 1: Intentionsaren’t worth anything unless they are followed up with action.
Do these statements sound familiar?
·     Well, I intended to lose five pounds this month but…
·     So, I thought I’d meet those audacious sales goals but…
·     I wanted to do more volunteering this year but…
·     Ok, I meant to exercise five days a week but…
And so, it goes. We set intentions, yet often we don’t take the right action to meet the intention.

Our mastermind group recently read Intentional Living by John Maxwell, and each of us gained clarity and commitment to put action toward our intentions. We found that by putting action to the intention, we not only make a difference for ourselves, but we are also more likely to impact others and create significance, in other words, a life that matters.

Example:
Word of intention                   Word of intentional living     Life that matters
Desire                                      Action                                      Results

I’m going to be vulnerable and tell you that I gained six pounds during the holidays. #!
I desire to lose those six pounds by February 8 (when I leave to go on a girlfriend cruise).

My action is eating only protein and vegetables and count my Weight Watcher points (minimum bread and dessert) and keep my exercising and pickleball routines.

Results will be that I lose that extra weight and don’t intend to find it again. When I follow the good habits, I will achieve my intentions.

This example is not a business goal, it’s a personal goal. I shared this one on purpose, because we have many goals in our life and we need to include all aspects which leads me to…

Key 2: Goal Setting and Getting
I encourage you to set your intentions and goals in multiple categories that align with each aspect of your life. Feel free to modify, here are examples:
Health, Spiritual, Family, Finance, Business, Personal

We recently shared our vision boards in our Mastermind group and emphasized the importance to feature each category on vision boards, as well. There are many facets to our life, and we want our vision boards to reflect our whole life. (let me know if I can guide you to create  your vision board and goals)

Goal setting should also include each of these facets and be chunked into quarters.

Quick tip: start with your big picture-what victory you’ll be prepared and excited to celebrate at the end of the year.

  • Then, break it down by quarter

  • Then, break it down by month,

  • week

  • and day.

This is such an effective process to meet your goals and intentions. I tend to be "old school" and write each quarterly goal on a 3x5 card per quarter. I add my monthly, weekly and daily goals in my planner. Whew. It can be time consuming in the beginning however, it’s a time saver in the end because I’m clear on my intentions, goals/actions. To meet goals, we must create and keep good habits...

Key 3:Habits
Good habits are life changing. Have you read Atomic Habits by James Clear? If you haven’t, I highly recommend it, especially this time of year. His subtitle is: Tiny changes, remarkable results. One of many quotes he said that I love is "Success is the product of daily habits, not once in a lifetime transformation."

When we adopt good habits that contribute to new consistent actions, we ready ourselves to become the person we know we were intended to be and achieve our potential.

One habit I re-started (which I stopped during the holidays) was getting my planner out on Sunday evening to plan my week. It feels great to be back on track and I feel ready and invigorated come Monday morning.

My guess is that you, like me, intend to claim victory in 2023! We’ll have to stop doing some things that weren’t productive or efficient and start doing the things that allow us to propel.

I wish you all the success you can stand. I hope this newsletter inspired you to be clear on the three keys:

  • your intentions and

  • create the right action to meet them, set your goals to align with your whole life and

  • embrace new habits that in fact, create significance for you and those who are blessed to be in your life.

Victory in 2023!
